Apollo TV tapes

The Apollo TV camera was added late in mission design and its data stream was inserted in the analog communications to the earth. Unfortunately, nobody thought at the time that these images would contain science data, for example on dust behaviour. The images and other data were received at Australian radio telescopes and immediately converted to broadcast format; this led to loss of image original quality which present techniques could restore. The original tapes were sent to the United States and are still not properly archived, if not lost.
