This slide presentation introduces briefly the notion of appraisal at accession in order to understand the new aspect of appraisal considered in the PERICLES project. The appraisal tool developed within the project and presented in the next part of this module (currently under construction) is based on this new aspect that relates to changing digital ecosystems. The presentations follows the story from appraisal as answering the question of “What to preserve and for how long?” to “Can we preserve and at what effort?”.
